ADULT MINISTRY

ADULT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION From Sep 2016 - Dec 2016, the adult class will be reading 2 Samuel.  From Jan 2017 to May 2017, they will be reading Romans.  Pastor Lammi will lead two class sessions that cover the same material each week.  They will meet on Sunday mornings from 9:00am-9:45am and Wednesday afternoons from 4:30pm-5:30pm.  Both groups meet in his office.  You are invited to join us for either time.  We look forward to having you be a part of this exciting study through two wonderful books of the Bible.

WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) All women of St. Paul are members and invited to attend the meetings of the WELCA.  We meet on the second Tuesday of each month in the church social hall at 7:30 p.m.  We use the book "Women of the Bible" as the text for our Bible studies.  Other activities we have include serving Lenten soup suppers, craft night, service projects, and remembering our shut-ins.  Our mission is to mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ.

SPAM (St. Paul Active Men) is the men’s group here at St. Paul. We take great pride in being able assist in the work that God wants us to do by actively participating in many activities both at the church and in the community. These activities include:
·     Adopt-A-Road Clean-up in the spring and fall.
·     Prepare and serve Mother’s Day Breakfast.
·     Provide and prepare food for the church picnic on Labor Day weekend.
·     Sponsor the “Adopt A Family at Christmas” project. The “Adopt A Family at Christmas” program has been tremendously successful due to the fact that the members of St. Paul and the Vandalia Waffle House do an outstanding job of actively supporting the fund raising events throughout the year. For more about this ministry and the involvement of the Vandalia Waffle House, click here.  The number of families in Vandalia and Butler Township that we have been able help has increased each year.

VANDALIA BUTLER FOOD PANTRY St. Paul Lutheran Church actively supports the Vandalia Butler Food Pantry by donating food and by helping at the city wide food drives. The Vandalia Butler Food Pantry is located at 345 James E. Bohanan Drive in Vandalia, Ohio.  The pantry was originated through St. Christopher Church and has been in existence approximately 25 years.  It is governed by a Chairman and 5 appointed officers. The pantry delivers food to Vandalia and Butler Township families once a month, Monday through Friday excluding holidays.  It averages around 80 families a month and approximately 180 – 200 people a month.  Everyone who works at the pantry volunteers their time, and the pantry is self supportive.  Local organizations and churches provide and deliver the food.  In December, the pantry does a Christmas dinner with Santa including gifts to all the kids 12 and under.  St Paul is excited to be a part of this local ministry.

YOGA Our yoga class is a restorative type yoga ranging from gentle to moderate stretches which benefit the entire body.  No experience needed. We meet most Saturday mornings 9:30 to 11:00. Bring a yoga mat or towel.  Walk-ins are welcome.  Currently the cost is $5 per session.  Joann Hillelson, instructor.

JEREMIAH'S LETTER St Paul is a proud supporting congregation of Jeremiah's Letter.  The prayerful purpose of Jeremiah's Letter is to facilitate the use of volunteers from the congregations of the greater Dayton area, who feel called by God in the serving example of Jesus to donate their time and resources to identified inner-city residents who are challenged by daily living without proper goods, services, and/or a spiritual well-being.  Emergency food, hygiene products, household services, education and faith based opportunities; opportunities for youth through summer camps, ongoing mentoring and tutoring programs are made accessible through the resources of this inner-city ministry.  St Paul is primarily involved with Jeremiah's Letter through a monthly collection of requested food, hygiene products, and household goods.  To learn more about Jeremiah's Letter, visit their website here: http://www.jeremiahsletter.com

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD Operation Christmas Child is an exciting world-wide outreach ministry from Samaritan's Purse.  The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.  This happens during the fall months through the collection of shoe boxes filled with fun surprises for children in need.  These items can include small toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and so much more.  Plus, not only do the children receive these shoe box gifts, but they are also told about God's love for them in Jesus Christ.  Sine 1993, Operation Christmas Child has reached around 100 million children in more than 130 countries.  St Paul has been proud to be a part of Operation Christmas Child since 2009.  To learn more about this exciting ministry, visit their website here: http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/occ/
